COMBINED DEFENCE SERVICES EXAM (CDSE)

CDSE or Combined Defence Service Examination is a written exam which is conducted twice every year by UPSC (Union Pblic Service Commission), generally in the month of February and November.  The notification for the exam comes in the month of December/January and June. The mode of application for this exam is online only.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

(i) IMA & OTA - Degree of a recognized University or equivalent
(ii) Naval Academy: B.Sc. with Physics & Mathematics or Bachelor of Engg
(iii) Air Force Academy: B.Sc. with Physics and/or Mathematics or Bachelor of Engg

Male candidates can apply for Army (Both Short Service and Permanent Commission (Non-Tech), Navy (Permanent Commission) and Air Force (Permanent Commission).
Women can only apply for Indian Army, Short Service Commission (Non-tech)

SCHEME OF NDA ENTRANCE EXAMINATION

The exam pattern of CDSE is divided into two sections:

• Written Examination
• Intelligence & Personality Interview

 

CDS EXAM PATTERN FOR IMA, INA & OTA

The exam of Indian Naval Academy/Indian Military Academy/Indian Air Force comprises of 3 papers, which carry a total of 300 marks. The total duration of each exam is 2 hours.

CDS Exam Pattern Pattern for Officer Training Academy (OTA)

The exam of Officer Training Academy (OTA) consists of 2 subjects with a total of 200 Marks. The duration of the two exams is 4 hours (2 hours for each exam).

SELECTION PROCEDURE

The Union Public Service Commission shall prepare a list of candidates who obtain the minimum qualifying marks in the written examination as fixed by the commission at their discretion.
